OUR STORY

We Started With a Question

Why does caring about something have to mean wearing something ugly?

01

The Gap

Look at social-issue apparel and you'll see two extremes. On one side, cheap merch — thin fabric, loud graphics, made overseas, forgotten in a drawer after one wash. On the other, premium streetwear brands that wouldn't touch a social cause with a ten-foot pole.

We saw a gap between those two worlds. A space for something premium, American-made, and purposeful — clothing that lets you wear what you believe without compromising on quality or taste.

We wanted to build a brand where the quality of the product matches the weight of the message.

03

The Product

Every SmartAss tee starts with 6.5 oz ringspun cotton, knit, dyed, cut, and sewn in Los Angeles. No overseas factories, no mystery supply chains. Our manufacturer pays workers up to $25/hr with healthcare benefits.

The designs are restrained on purpose. No shouting, no slogans in 72-point Impact font. Just sharp, considered design that starts a conversation — not an argument.

04

The Impact

10% of every purchase goes directly to a cause you choose at checkout — voting rights, climate action, or healthcare access. We partner exclusively with vetted 501(c)(3) nonprofits.

And we don't just say it. Every dollar is tracked on our public transparency ledger with real receipts, real donation confirmations, and monthly impact reports. No vague "a portion of proceeds" language. No greenwashing. Real numbers, real proof.

Anyone can say they donate. We show you. Monthly. Publicly. With documentation.

06

The Name

A smartass is someone who won't stay quiet when it matters. Who asks the uncomfortable question. Who uses wit instead of volume. That's the energy we're building into every piece — clever, sharp, and impossible to ignore.

07

What We Believe

Issue-based, not party-based. We don't put names on tees. We don't pick sides of a party line. We design around issues — democracy, climate, healthcare, accountability, equality — because values outlast election cycles.

Quality is the message. The best way to prove you care is to actually care — about the fabric, the fit, the workers, the impact. Premium isn't a price point. It's a standard.

Receipts over rhetoric. Anyone can say they donate. We show you. Monthly. Publicly. With documentation.
